SECOND LIFE AT NABAIJI

SECOND LIFE AT NABAIJI

What does the term Second Life mean?
What journey do the second-hand products go on before they land in yours?
Let us explain!

At DECATHLON, we are always innovating and testing with the aim of reducing our environmental impact. One of our latest experiments? Giving swimwear and towels a second life. This is the first trial of its kind to be conducted in France! You could even become one of the pioneers…

Products don't just have to have one life

DECATHLON's Second Life project is rooted in our desire to transition to a circular economy model. Tackling the waste of resources is a matter of utmost importance these days. With this project, we are giving a new chance to sports equipment that is no longer in use. The products are collected, inspected, sanitised, and can be given a new lease of life, to spend by your side. Refurbished products are easier on the wallet and less impactful on the environment.

SECOND LIFE AT NABAIJI

Rethinking consumption habits

The observation: At NABAIJI, the majority of our carbon footprint comes from the production and sale of swimwear and towels.

What can we do about it? We can move towards a new economic model by making these products part of a circular process. Instead of buying, using and discarding, we will try to recover your product at the end of its life so that once you have finished with it, your swimming gear doesn't end up in landfill. We don't just want to prolong its life, we want to give it another one!

This offers you a whole new way to be a consumer. By choosing a second-hand product, you benefit from the same guarantee as for a new product. So not much changes for you. And yet, this action has a significant positive impact. You are helping to reduce the waste of resources and reduce your environmental footprint.

Together, we can choose to act more consciously.

SECOND LIFE AT NABAIJI

What's the journey of Second Life swimwear and towels?

To help us bring you a range of Second Life swimwear and towels, we made sure we asked the right people. We turned to a disability-confident company that is part of the local social and solidarity economy: Facylities Multi Services (FMS), based in Peyrehorade, in Les Landes. Their role in all of this? To take care of the washing and repackaging of the swimwear and towels.

➡️ Swimwear and towels are collected from French or European textile collectors and sorters.
➡️ We then sort them a first time to identify the products eligible for Second Life.
➡️ Swimwear and towels that meet the criteria for Second Life are sent to FMS for washing, labelling, hanging or folding, then packing in boxes.
➡️ Once all the indicators are green, Second Life swimwear and towels are sold in our two trial stores: Pau (for swimsuits) and Mérignac (for towels).
➡️ The second-hand, inspected and sanitised swimwear and towels are now ready for you to purchase. By choosing one of our Second Life products, you are also helping to create jobs locally, in the textile industry.

A second life, yes, but still the same guarantee!

✅ Inspected and certified sanitised product
✅ Guaranteed for 2 years
✅ Exchangeable or refundable
